So, a co-worker (not mine) invites us to a party to renew her vows after ONE year of marriage. The invitation says "in lieu of gifts, we request a monetary donation to go toward a delayed honeymoon." Tacky or not? If it helps, we were never invited to the wedding.

Yes, it is VERY tacky. People should NEVER ask for money, unless it's for a charity...not a trip. shame on them!
I agree it is tacky. But I have seen this done so many times, although not in writing; the bride and groom just use word of mouth advertising to pass their wishes onto their guests.
